Overview
Upper Dolpo Trek is one of the famous trekking routes in Dolpo region which is a remote and unspoiled area near the Tibetan border of Nepal. It is situated in the north-west part of the country and is one of the most remote regions in Nepal. The landscapes here are even more desolate than on the Dolpa circuit and the villages, even more, isolate and authentic. This trek crosses three relatively high passes, goods paths are followed throughout and there is no trekking on the glacier. The trekking trail continues through juniper scrub and wild rose and pleasant campsites. It offers a real adventure trekking on remote and rugged natural unspoiled corner simply beyond the Himalayan valleys across western Nepal. This region is the natural embodiment of high passes, rare flora and fauna and sweeping vistas. Trekking in this region is a very popular trekking region in the region. Regarded as one of the best trekking trails in the world and there is another newly founded lake which is known as Ice Lake. For thousands of years, people of diverse ethnic backgrounds have starched a livelihood out of its steep hillsides. The entire surrounding area of the Annapurna region is a protected area of Nepal.
Upper Dolpo Trek is a once in a lifetime experiences which is one of the remotest and least exposed areas of northern Nepal. Trekking in this route get ahead of various technical high passes and the steep trails through the forest with the sceneries of the waterfalls and this is a region of mystical beauty. The trail continues through a pine-filled gorge and rises up steeply to right beneath Jupahal for the flight back to Nepalgunj. Trekking around this region is an unforgettable journey in every visitor’s eyes. High Himalayan trekking and expedition will not disappoint you. This trekking offers a magnificent country with scenic landscapes of the green wide valley, snow-capped peaks and impressive villages interwoven with Buddhist religion and as well as ancient Bon traditions a pre-Buddhist sect. At the time of trekking, we get an opportunity to see the wonderful views of the mountain which includes Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Machhapuchher and many other mountains of this route. The trek leads us through the lush forest of Rhododendron, pine, and Oak. All those treks offer spectacular scenery and the close-up view of local cultures of the Himalayan. The perfect season for trekking in this route is between March to July and August to November.

Details Itinerary
Day 01: Arrival in Kathmandu
After you reach in Kathmandu valley then there will be one guide of our company will be waiting to pick-up you. And after pick-up, we will directly check out the hotel and have some dinner and make some preparation for the trip and take some rest.
Day 02: Kathmandu to Nepalgunj fly 1 hour
We will drive towards the local airport of Kathmandu to take a flight towards Nepalgunj. After reach in Nepalgunj, first of all, we will check out the hotel then after we will have our lunch and explore all around the beautiful place of Nepalgunj and spend overnight.
Day 03: Fly from Nepalgunj to Jhuphal and trek to Dunai (2,850m) 2-3 hours
If the hotel is able to make breakfast then we will have our breakfast and the move towards the airport of Nepalgunj to fly towards Jhuphal and if not we will have our breakfast in Jhuphal. After reach in Jhuphal, we will move towards Dunai which takes almost 2 to 3 hrs and spend one night.
Day 04: Dunai to Ankhe (2,896m) 5-6 hours
Today is second-day walking trek where we will walk from Dunai to Ankhe. We will have our lunch on the way and move towards Ankhe where we will spend one night.
Day 05: Ankhe to Sulighat 5-6 hours
Our trail ascends and descends along the wooded riverbank and climbs on a steep trail. We will have our lunch on the way and take some rest and slowly towards Sulighat where we will one night.
Day 06: Sulighat to Phoksundo Lake (3,611m) 4-5 hours
On to the picturesque settlements of Ringmo with its mud plastered Chortens and main walls. We will have our lunch on the way then after slowly move towards Phoksundo Lake where we will spend one night.
Day 07: Rest at Phoksundo Lake
Today we don’t start our trekking today is for the rest day. And we will take rest in Phoksundo Lake. In the daytime after having lunch at the hotel, we will explore all around the Phoksundo Lake and in the evening we will come back to the hotel and spend one night.
Day 08: Trek to Phoksundo Khola 4-5 hours
Our trail moves around the top western end of the Phoksundo Lake as it contours on a rocky ledge along the lake’s western bank. The precarious trail is suspended on a gangway of well supported on pegs.
Day 09: Phoksundo Khola to Phoksundo Bhanjyang 6-7 hours
From Phoksundo Khola, we will take the tail to Phoksund Bhanjyang which is a nunnery. At the time of trekking, we will pass through several Chortens adorn barley and bucket fields that have been cut from surrounding pine forest.
Day 10: Phoksundo Bhanjyang to Shey Gompa (4,500m) 5-6 hours
We will have a great chance to see the wonderful views of the mountain, and beautiful landscapes. We will have our lunch on the way then after slowly move towards Shey Gompa where we will spend overnight.
Day 11: Rest at Shey Gompa
Today we don’t start our trekking today is for the rest day. And we will take rest in Shey Gompa. In the daytime after having lunch at the hotel, we will explore all around the Shey Gompa and in the evening we will come back to the hotel and spend one night.
Day 12: Shey Gompa to Namduna Gaun (4,800m) 6-7 hours
You will enjoy great views towards arid landscapes of Mustang and the distant snow peaks of Tibet. We will have a great opportunity to see the red stone monastery is built against the backdrop of the cliff on the north wall of the gorge.
Day 13: Namduna Gaun to Saldang (3,620m) 4-5 hours
We leave the village and climb up a slope and begin a long walk dusty barren mountain. We will have our lunch on the way then after taking some rest and slowly move towards Saldang where we spend one night.
Day 14: Saldang to Yangze Gompa (4,960m) 4-5 hours
On the way, we will pass through Marang and Ki Village. At the time of trekking, we will pass through several Chortens adorn barley and bucket fields that have been cut from surrounding pine forest.
Day 15: Yangtze Gompa to Sibu (4,560m) 6-7 hours
After having breakfast early in the morning, we will walk towards Sibu. We will have a great view of the mountain at the time of trekking and we will have our lunch on the way and slowly start our trekking towards the Sibu where we will spend overnight.
Day 16: Sibu to Jeng-la Phedi (4,900m) 5-6 hours
We leave Sibu for Jeng-la Phedi after having the hot breakfast in the hotel. From here we can see the trail drop closer to the river before climbing again Jeng-la Phedi where we will spend one night.
Day 17: Jeng-la Phedi to Tokyu Gaon (4209m) 5-6 hours
We will have a great chance to see the wonderful views of the mountain, and beautiful landscapes. We will have our lunch on the way then after slowly move towards Tokyu Gaon where we will spend overnight.
Day 18: Tokyu to Dho Tarap (4,040m) 4-5 hours
The route climbs on a rugged rocky trail where we climb ups and downs ravines and notched trees. We will have our lunch on the way then after slowly move towards Dho Tarap where we will spend one night.
Day 19: Rest Day at Dho Tarap
Today we don’t start our trekking today is for the rest day. And we will take rest in Dho Tarap. In the daytime after having lunch at the hotel, we will explore all around the Dho Tarap and in the evening we will come back to the hotel and spend one night.
Day 20: Dho Tarap to Tarap Khola (3,800m) 6-7 hours
Today our trail is uphill and we follow mostly the way gently up. We walk on this day have an easy, gentle walk today from side to side with farmland and villages to arrive at Tarap Khola where we will go spend overnight.
Day 21: Tarap Khola to Khanigaon (3,150m) 4-5 hours
The treks descend through the forest, crossing streams, before tackling a long and steep climb up the south side. The trail then gradually descends, beneath a spectacular waterfall, in the gorge below and a junction before reaching Khanigaon where we will spend overnight.
Day 22: Khanigaon to Tarakot (2,537m) 4-5 hours
Spending the wonderful night in Khanigaon we will slowly move towards Tarakot. We will have a great view of the mountain and beautiful landscapes on the route. On the way, we will have our lunch and slowly move towards Tarakot where we will spend overnight.
Day 23: Tarakot to Dunai (2,140m) 5-6 hours
From Tarakot, we will take the tail to Dunai which is a nunnery. At the time of trekking, we will pass through several Chortens adorn barley and bucket fields that have been cut from surrounding pine forest.
Day 24: Dunai to Jhuphal 2-3 hours
Today we will trek along the Bheri River enjoying the natural landscapes. We will have our lunch on the way and then take some rest and slowly move towards Jhuphal where we will spend one night.
Day 25: Trek to Nepalgunj and then fly towards Kathmandu
Early in the morning, after having breakfast we will fly towards Nepalgunj. After reach in Nepalgunj, we will have our lunch then after taking some rest and slowly drive towards the local airport of Nepalgunj to fly towards Kathmandu Valley. And after reach in Kathmandu valley, first of all, we will check out the hotel and then after we will have our farewell dinner and spend one night in this wonderful city.
Day 26: Final departure
With lots of memory, you will drive towards the international airport of Kathmandu valley. We will sure that it’s not the last time in Nepal and you will provide us to see you again and give us a chance to serve you next time too.
